I'm both a glass lover and a gem lover. To that end, my non-glass hobby is rockhounding - a pasttime that gets me outside and in the wilderness.
I wanted to pay tribute to that hobby by adding gemstones to my glass pieces. Eventually, I bypassed the glass completely with this beautiful all-crystals suncatcher. The crystals just came together to form this lovely half-dome shape. They are soldered together with traditional Tiffany-method copper foil and adorned with tiny beads of solder.
I make every stained glass piece in my shop. It's traditional, Tiffany-method stained glass. I'm an artist who'd been creating stained glass artwork for nearly 20 years, from the Pacific Northwest.
While they can be used outside, it is NOT recommended, for the beauty and longevity of the artwork.
If you do hang your art outside, I recommend: - use it under cover from the elements - keep it out of the sun and rain/snow - bring it inside during extremely hot or cold temperatures
Each piece of art I create is unique and individual because of the special qualities of the glass used. They take time, experience, and patience to create, with stained glass artisans taking years to specialize and become experts in their craft. Artists in stained glass take great pride in their work, and the work you see here is no exception. I am so happy you're here - thank you for taking the time to view my work, and to read this far!
I bought this for my friends who are avid hikers. I love the colors and the artistic interpretation of nature. They love it and are in the process of putting it together right now. It’s a great way to wind down with a glass of wine and conversation at the end of the day.
